Dated the 28th day of April 1899
Be it known that at the date hereinunder written the last Will and Testament with one codicil  thereto of Mary Priestnall 87 Charlestown Road, Glossop in the County of Derby, Widow, deceased who died on the 19th day of March 1899 at 87 Charlestown Road, Glossop aforesaid and who at the time of her death had a fixed place of abode at 87 Charlestown Road, Glossop aforesaid within the District of the County of Derby was proved and registered in the District Probate Registry of Her Majesty’s High Court of Justice at Derby and that Administration of all the estate which by law devolves to and vests in the personal representative of the said deceased was granted by the aforesaid Court to John Wood of Chunal, in the Parish of Glossop, in the said County of Derby aforesaid, Farmer and Abel Cooper of Primrose Lane, Glossop aforesaid , Tailor, the Executors named in the said Will having been first sworn well and faithfully to administer the same.

Will

This is the last Will and Testament of me Mary Priestnall of 87 Charlestown Road, Glossop in the County of Derby, Widow.
I appoint my friends, John Wood of Chunal, Glossop aforesaid, Farmer and Abel Cooper of Glossop aforesaid, Tailor, Trustees and Executors of this my Will.
I give the following legacies namely, To the trustees for the time being of the Independent Chapel, Littlemoor, Glossop aforesaid the legacy or sum of two hundred pounds the same to be devoted by such trustees towards the liquidation of any debt that may be owing or existing upon the said Chapel at the time of my decease and in the event of there being no such debt then the same legacy to be applied by such Chapel trustees for the benefit of the said Chapel as they deem most expedient and I declare that the legacy shall be paid free from legacy duty and that the same and the legacy duty thereon respectively shall be paid exclusively out of such part of my personal estate as may be legally bequeathed for charitable purposes and in priority to all other payments thereout.
To each of my said Executors the sum of ten pounds. To Hannah Potts the sum of ten pounds and my mahogany chest of drawers. To John Priestnall son of William Priestnall the sum of ten pounds. To Parnell Hirst (the wife of Aaron Hirst) the sum of ten pounds. To Kezia Taylor of Over Darwin in the County of Lancaster the sum of ten pounds. To William Chatterton of Mossley in the County of Lancaster the sum of ten pounds. To Jane Bowden of Mossley aforesaid, Widow, the sum of ten pounds. To Sarah Ann Jackson (widow of Ephraim Jackson, the sum of ten pounds. To Addie Trimble of the City of Manchester the sum of ten pounds. To such of the children of Joseph Garside of Lees Hall, Glossop aforesaid, Farmer, as shall be living at the time of my decease each the sum of ten pounds.
And subject thereto I give, devise and bequeath all the real and personal estate and effects of or to which I shall be possessed or entitled or over which I shall have a power of appointment or disposition at the time of my decease unto my said Trustees, their heirs, executors, administrators and assigns respectively. Upon trust that they my said Trustees or the survivor of them or the executors or administrators of such survivor or other the Trustees or trustee for the time being of this my Will (all of who are comprised in the term “my Trustees”) shall sell and convert my said estate and effects into money and stand possessed of the proceeds thereof.
In trust for Bertha Nield (wife of James Nield) at present residing with me, for her own separate use and benefit absolutely providing always that in the event of the said Bertha Nield predeceasing me leaving issue the share to which she would if living have been entitled shall be paid to her issue and if more than one in equal shares.
And lastly I revoke all former Wills made by me. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand this twenty second day of May one thousand eight hundred and ninety seven. Mary Priestnall

Signed by the said Mary Priestnall as and to be her last Will and Testament in the presence of us present at the same time who at her request and in her presence and in the presence of each other have hereunto subscribed our names as witnesses.

Codicil

This is a Codicil to the last Will and Testament of me Mary Priestnall of 87 Charlestown Road, Glossop in the County of Derby, Widow, which Will bears date the twenty second day of May one thousand eight hundred and ninety seven.
Whereas by my said Will I gave to the trustees for the time being of the Independent Chapel, Littlemoor, Glossop aforesaid the legacy or sum of two hundred pounds the same to be devoted by them as therein mentioned. And I also gave unto such of the children of Joseph Garside of Lees Hall, Glossop aforesaid, Farmer, as should be living at the time of my decease each the sum of ten pounds.
Now I hereby revoke the said gift of two hundred pounds to the said trustees of the Independent Chapel, Littlemoor and the said gift of ten pounds each to the children of Joseph Garside and in lieu thereof I give to the trustees for the time being of the Independent Chapel, Littlemoor, Glossop aforesaid the legacy or sum of one hundred pounds the same to be devoted by such trustees towards the liquidation of any debt that may be owing or existing upon the said Chapel at the time of my decease and in the event of there being no such debt then the same legacy to be applied by such Chapel trustees for the benefit of the said Chapel as they may deem most expedient and I give the sum of twenty pounds to be equally divided between and amongst such of the children of the said Joseph Garside of Lees Hall, Glossop aforesaid as shall be living at the time of my decease.
And in all other respects I confirm my said Will.
In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand this sixteenth day of March one Thousand eight hundred and ninety nine. Mary Priestnall

Signed by the said Mary Priestnall as to be a Codicil to her last Will and Testament in the presence of us present at the same time who at her request in her presence and in the presence of each other have hereunto subscribed our names as witnesses the same having been first read over to the said Mary Priestnall where she seemed perfectly to understand the same.
